IHF 2009 CONFIRMS ITS POSITION AS A MUST ATTEND ANNUAL BUSINESS PLATFORM FOR JORDAN'S HOSPITALITY SECTOR
Amman, November 2009.
With the joint efforts of Events UnLimited (Jordan) and
Hospitality Services (Lebanon), the 9th International
Hospitality Forum, held under the patronage of H.E. Mrs.
Maha Al Khatib, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities,
drew in more than 3000 visitors during the 3-day event
that was held from the 27th until the 29th of October at
Amman Exhibitions Park.
Jordan’s leading hospitality and foodservice event,
exploded with positive energy, business opportunities
and vibrant atmosphere that surpassed expectations.
Professionals and business people from all walks of the
hospitality industry in Jordan and the region gathered
at the show to view the latest products and services on
display; attend the hugely successful training sessions;
marvel at the artistic displays of Jordan’s skillful
chefs; cheer chefs at the live kitchen area and above
all; make business deals with some 60 exhibitors from
Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab
Emirates, as well as the USA, the Netherlands, Germany,
U.K. and various other parts of the world.
Exhibitors at IHF 2009 lauded the quality of visitors
that the show attracted and expressed great satisfaction
with the useful contacts they made, business leads
gathered and contracts sealed during this annual
business platform.
The popular Culinary Art Show is a haven for Jordanian
chefs who await this event with great anticipation. Over
120 chefs from different hotels, restaurants and various
establishments competed in 16 different categories that
included pastry, baking, international and local
cuisine, canapés and many others. Participants filled
their establishments with great pride, as they took home
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Kempinski Ishtar Hotel,
Crowne Plaza Amman, Intercontinental Jordan, Kempinski
Aqaba, Moevenpick Aqaba, Moevenpick Tala Bay, Radisson
Blu Tala Bay Resort, Le Royal Amman Hotel, The Regency
Palace hotel and Casper & Gambini's were among the many winning establishments. Renowned judges from
Jordan, France, Spain, Holland, UAE, Cyprus and Lebanon
participated in the event to judge the competitions and
to further coach chefs to develop their abilities,
skills and craftsmanship.
Other events at IHF 2009 included the Bed Making
competition which attracted housekeeping staff and
students of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism of
the Jordan Applied University who raced to make a double
bed according to fine hotel industry standards. Le Royal
Hotel’s team confidently scooped the first three places
at the competition.
Key personnel at hotels and restaurants in Jordan had a
great opportunity this year to attend nine training
sessions delivered by Better Business; a Jordanian
company specialized in the development of organizational
behavior and human resources. Held at the Training Zone
at IHF 2009, the training sessions, that aimed at
empowering the workforce within the hospitality industry
in Jordan, ranged from sales & marketing techniques to
cross cultural communication, business etiquette, team
building, cost cutting measures and others.
The Jordan Restaurant Association, one of IHF’s greatest
supporters, acknowledged the achievements of a number of
companies and institutions in Jordan for their
outstanding contribution to Jordan’s hospitality sector.
Among those were Nabil Company for Food Products, Abdin
Industrial Establishment, as well as IHF organizers -
Events UnLimited and Hospitality Services.
The International Hospitality Forum 2009 succeeded yet
again in maintaining its position as a true benchmark of
quality and professionalism, as it inspired local and
regional businesses, and ensured that top decision
makers and leading professionals will continue to return
each year to witness developments in the tourism,
hospitality and foodservice sectors and plan for the
future.
