“Wedding Dress Design Competition” launched to Nurture and Develop Jordanian Fashion Design Talent

Amman, 17 February 2008. Jordan’s fashion designers will for the first time in Jordan, receive an opportunity to show off their talent and creativity at a national “Wedding Dress Design Competition” launched jointly by U Magazine, Jordan’s leading monthly fashion magazine, and Events UnLimited the organisers of the annual Wedding Show.

“The Competition aims to support and develop the nascent fashion industry in Jordan through encouraging young Jordanian designers to take part in an annual competition for Wedding Dresses”, said Shirene Rifai, editor-in-chief of U Magazine. “Dresses will be rated according to the sketches submitted by the designers; interpretation of the sketches; creativity and originality; use of fabrics, colours, details and trimmings; as well as the construction of the dress including cut, transformation to the final dress and the finish of the garment”, added Rifai.

The lucky three to make the short-list for the Wedding Dress Design Competition will show off their dresses on the catwalk at the Official Opening of the Wedding Show on 3 April at Zara Expo Amman. The results will be announced then and the dresses will be on display during the 3-day event which expects to receive over 3500 visitors.

The Wedding Show offers everything couples need to plan their dream wedding. From the latest in bridal couture and formalwear, to jewellery, reception site, photographer, DJs, band, limousine, cake, invitation cards, beauty products, honeymoon packages or anything that is involved in planning the perfect wedding, will all be featured at the Wedding Show. Also on display will be furniture, fabrics, interior décor, tableware and other items needed to furnish a new home. The Show will also help couples find bank loans to help finance their weddings and homes. Many exhibitors will be offering demonstrations, samples and money-saving Show specials.
