First Family Business Conference in Jordan Addresses Key Survival Issues Affecting Success and Succession for Family Businesses in the Region

 
A Family Business Conference under the theme of “Success & Succession for Family Business” will be held in Jordan on 9 & 10 June 2007. The 2-day Conference aims to encourage greater understanding of family businesses’ dynamics and the challenges they face, in order to accomplish greater business success and sustainability leading to higher economic growth rates. The Family Business Conference is organised by Events UnLimited, a Jordan-based company specialised in planning and producing conferences and trade shows, in association with the Institute of Family and Entrepreneurial Business at the Lebanese American University.

“Over 90% of businesses in the Arab world are family owned. As with other family businesses around the world, they face many challenges that threaten their success and sustainability. Only about 30% of family businesses move on to the 2nd generation, 14% to the third generation while only 3% of them survive beyond the 3rd generation”, said Dr. Josiane Fahed-Sreih, Director of the Institute of Family and Entrepreneurial Business and Associate Professor of Management at LAU.
